Climate
Barbados, the easternmost of the West Indies, has a tropical climate, hot and humid all year round, a bit cooler and more pleasant from December to April, and more hot and muggy from May to October. However, the heat is tempered by the breezes.
The temperature does not vary much throughout the year.
The rains, however, are quite irregular from month to month, which means that even in the rainy season, the weather may be good for entire weeks. The rains in Barbados occur especially in the form of downpours or thunderstorms, maybe intense, but which generally do not last long, and therefore do not reduce too much the sunshine hours, though sometimes there may be a more intense wave of bad weather. The greatest danger comes from hurricanes in the Caribbean area, which may pass from June to November, but are most likely from August to October.
The best time to visit Barbados goes from February to April, which is the least rainy of the year, but after all also December and January are acceptable, with a few more showers. In May, heat and moisture increase, but the rains are not yet too abundant, and we are still out of the hurricane season.

COACH

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
If you want to get acquainted with the locals, use the public transport as a cheap and authentic way to discover the island. The Government-owned buses here are blue with yellow stripes on, which makes them pretty hard to miss, and travel every major routes in both urban and rural Barbados. Privately-owned mini-buses are also available (yellow painted with blue stripes), as well as ZR vans (white painted with maroon stripes), and generally travel to any route.
TAXI
A taxi ride abroad is often a great way to get a piece of local heritage as well as tips on the best places to go, and Barbados is no exception: Barbadian taxi drivers are often more than happy to tell you all about their country!
CAR
If you'd like to remain flexible and independent during your stay on the island, you will find a selection of vehicle rental companies to rent a car from, with many agencies offering unlimited mileage, free delivery and pick up.
History of barbados
Barbados was first occupied by the British in 1627, two years after Captain John Powell claimed the island in the name of King James I, and remained a British colony until internal autonomy was granted in 1961. The first British settlement counted 80 civilians and 10 enslaved Africans, and in 1639, following the British style of government, a Parliamentary Democracy was created.
