Climate
The climate of the Cayman Islands is tropical, hot and humid all year round, with a dry and relatively cool season from late November to mid-April, in which the northeast trade winds blow, and a rainy and muggy season from late April to early November.
During the rainy season, the maximum temperature is around 32 degrees Celsius (90 °F), and moisture makes the heat sweltering, although sea breezes give some relief. Rainfall occurs mainly in the form of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, which is typical of many countries having a tropical climate, so there is still a fairly good amount of sunshine. Anyway, every now and then the islands can be hit by hurricanes, tropical cyclones of the Caribbean and the Atlantic. The hurricane season runs from June to November, but the period in which they are most likely runs from August to October.
The best time to visit the Cayman Islands runs from late November to mid-April, because it's the least hot and the least rainy. During the hot and muggy summer, heavy showers and thunderstorms are possible, as well as hurricanes, which are more dangerous but fortunately rare.

CAR
If you like your holiday schedule to remain flexible, leaving room for impromptu road trip and stops by unexpected points of interests, then renting a car sounds like the perfect solution for you. As long as you’re over 21 of age and are in possession of a valid driving license, you will be able to purchase a temporary Caymanian license from the police station, or directly from your car rental agency.
BUS
A great way to travel around the country whilst mingling with the locals and keeping to your budget is to use the many public buses networks available throughout the districts. Bus services start as early as 6am, and as cheap as CI$1.50, with licensed buses (blue number plates) accepting both Cayman and US dollars.
TAXI
Visitors will find taxi services widely available at the Grand Cayman’s Owen Roberts International Airport, from most of the country’s resorts and hotels, and from the taxi stand located at the ship dock in George Town.
History of the Cayman Islands
The two islands of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman appeared on a 1523 map and by 1530 were named Caymanas, derived from the Carib Indian word for the marine crocodile.In 1802, when the first census of the island was taken the population on Grand Cayman was recorded as 933, of whom 545 were slaves. Before slavery was abolished in 1834, there were over 950 slaves owned by just 116 families and it was the release of these slaves that paved the way for development of a homogeneous society.
