Climate
The climate of Grenada is tropical climate, hot and humid all year round, with a relatively cool and dry season from January to mid-April, and a hot, humid and rainy season from June to December. In the former period, the northeast trade winds, constant winds typical of tropical climates, blow steadily and with moderate intensity, while in the latter period the winds are more irregular, and may have some breaks, increasing the feeling of sultriness. Between mid-April and late May, before the warmer and rainy season, both the temperature and the frequency of downpours gradually increase.
The rains in Grenada are abundant. They occur throughout the year usually in the form of downpours or thunderstorms, maybe intense, but which generally do not last long, and therefore do not reduce too much the sunshine hours, at least on the coasts (in which there are about 7/8 hours of sunshine per day all year round), though sometimes there may be a more intense wave of bad weather.
The best time to visit Grenada goes from February to April, which is the driest of the year, but all in all even January is an acceptable month.

For an authentic experience of the island, use the various public transport networks and immerse yourself in the life of the locals, taking in the chatters, music, characters and lifestyle of Grenadian people. Zone stickers placed at the front of each bus enable you to identify the routes, and conductors managing the passengers will always be pleased to assist you in finding the correct route. Local buses operate Monday to Saturday from 6am to 9pm, with fares being priced between EC$2.50 and EC$6.50, depending on the route.
CAR
Although taxis are available in Grenada's main points of interest, you might prefer benefiting from a total flexibility by renting your own vehicle. To do so, drivers are required to obtain a Grenadian driving permit, by presenting a valid driving license to the police station (located on the Carenage in St George's town), at a cost of EC$60 - although some car rental companies do provide a driving permit as part of their service. You may find that some agencies also require drivers to 25 years of age minimum, and that most agencies rent their vehicles for a minimum of three days during the July and August high season.Rental rates average at about US$50 to US$75 a day, but most agencies will be happy to lower the daily rates for clients wishing to rent a car for several days.
History of Grenada
Grenada has a rich culture which reveals much about its past; the influences of Amerindian customs, French and English settlements fused with African, East Indian and Caribbean ancestry. The island was named Grenada in 1763 when the British gained control from the French, although the ancestry of the name is actually from Spanish. The island was French from 1649 to 1763, and while the British tried, they were unable to rid the island of French influence.
