ST CROIX
At 82 square miles, St. Croix is the largest US Virgin Island situated at the easternmost point of the United States and providing gorgeous beaches, world-class recreational activities, fine dining, casinos and golf. Although just over 22 miles long and 8 miles at its widest point, the landscape of St. Croix is surprisingly diverse, boasting a terrain that goes from dry and rocky to crystal-white beaches and lush tropics.
Visiting just the two main towns of St. Croix will give you a glimpse of the island’s incredible history—from regal 18th and 19th-century homes in Christiansted to a tropical rain forest in Frederiksted. St. Croix is most famous for its amazing underwater activities, which includes an underwater National Park (Buck Island) and world famous snorkelling and scuba diving sites. The cuisine found on St. Croix spans the globe and includes everything from original Caribbean fusion dishes to French and Thai.
ST JOHN
The Island of St John doesn’t have an airport or dock for cruise ships, and can only be accessed by a 20-minute ferry ride from St. Thomas. It is the smallest of the US Virgin islands and blissfully low key compared to its neighbour St. Thomas.
Over half of St. John's 21 sq. miles is cared for by the park service so hiking and snorkelling are the most popular things to do. Trails wind through breath-taking scenery, and several bring you out onto beaches where you can swim with turtles and spotted eagle rays.
Reef Bay Trail is also worth a hike! This downhill trail includes a 200-year-old sugar plantation and petroglyphs carved by the Carib Indians. The most famous campsite in the Caribbean is Cinnamon Bay, but guests can also set camp at Maho Bay oceans' edge, and both sites have camping supplies available. While you’re here, indulge in the watersports that are on offer, but be sure to make a reservation in high season. St. John is the only place in the Caribbean where you can try Snuba, a combination of snorkelling and scuba diving. Though the island is low key, Cruz Bay does have some colourful shops, lively bars, and some diverse restaurants.
ST THOMAS
Although only 32 sq. miles, St Thomas has tonnes of activities; guests can enjoy the world renowned golf courses, pictures perfect beaches plus fine dining. Away from the golf courses you can also enjoy some sightseeing, horseback riding, tennis, and rock-climbing.
