FESTIVALS
Once or twice a year, each island is transformed for regatta season. These sailing events bring Bahamians all over the Out Islands for a weekend of activity: local music and fantastic local food… plus lots of partying. Festivals and homecomings are packed with the same excitement; they are weekends to celebrate the return of Bahamians from the city or abroad back to the islands.

FISH FRY
One of the best ways to get to the heart of the Bahamian culture is to attend one of its famous Fish Fry, where locals and visitors gather for this authentic culinary experience. Watch the chefs excelling at the preparation of Bahamian dishes including fried fish, fresh conch salad, and other typical flavours of The Bahamas.

In Long Island, take part in the Fish Fry at Vindell's Restaurant, Two Sisters Restaurant & Bar, Tiny's Hurricane Hole, Stella Maris Resort Club, Seaside Village at Jerry Wells, Outer Edge Bar & Grill, Ounces Hot Spot, , Lloyd's Restaurant, Green Leaf Bar & Grill.

JUNKANOO
Bahamian Junkanoo is a truly unique experience; part carnival, part masquerade ball. Goombay drums offer up a pulsating beat as dancers in large, exotic costumes parade down the street. Junkanoo is enjoyed at full scale during the Christmas season, on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day in particular. However, public practice sessions starting around October provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse. Year-round, there are miniature “rush-outs” at summer events on several of the islands.

LIVE MUSIC
One of the first experiences upon arrival in The Bahamas is likely the sound of live music which greets you at the airport or cruise port. All across the islands, you will have many opportunities to enjoy our rich musical tradition at bars, clubs and restaurants; the Atlantis Live stage on Paradise Island and Arawak Cay in Nassau are often used as venues for concerts, which are often headlined by major international artists.

NIGHT SPOTS
Whether you go out on the town or stay inside your hotel or resort, there is no shortage of bars and clubs with lively DJs to keep you entertained. Learning to shake your body Bahamian style is something of an experience; ask for instructions on doing the “Conch Style” and “Stomping the Roach.” Each island has hotspots where most visitors manage to find and stay a while.

THE ABACOS
The entertainment scene on the Abacos is concentrated in the bars of the resorts and at marinas. They have schedules (which you may be able to find ahead of your visit) and offer live music at different places on various nights throughout the year, but generally only during the winter season. Many pubs and sports bars offer a daily Happy Hour and feature everything from international competitions on multiple TV screens, karaoke, pool tables, darts, card games, to DJ or live music to dance to at the weekends. Some national musicians make it a point to return annually and perform at community celebrations and festivals.

You'll find plenty of dining options in Abacos, whether you're looking for a quick bite or a three course-meal, local flavours or international favourite, you're likely to find the place that will just hit the spot. For Bahamian cuisine, try Cap'n Jacks Restaurant & Bar, Coco Beach Bar & Grill, Da Valley Restaurant, Geno's Restaurant (take-out), Junovia's Restaurant, M & M's Restaurant, The Wrecking Tree.

THE EXUMAS
Nightclubs and bars at hotels and lodges provide most of the evening entertainment in The Exumas; there is likely to be a live band performing where you’re staying on some nights during the winter season, but if not- or you need more- live music can also be found during Happy Hour at some of the nightclubs and other local hangouts, while dining in one of the restaurants, or at the Fish Fry in George Town. Some places offer a very laid-back experience, usually with a night of Goombay, Rake & Scrape, karaoke, and/or dance music, plus nightly games. A number of talented local artists who have had international success perform regularly at homecomings, festivals, regattas, and other community celebrations.

ELEUTHERA & HARBOUR ISLAND
During the winter season the majority of live entertainment is usually within the hotels and resort, but a variety of local entertainers also provide dance music at other locations at weekends. Soak up some local flavour at popular hangouts such as the Fish Fry at Anchor Bay in Governor’s Harbour, and at homecoming festivals held in different towns on national holiday weekends. There are a number of bars and clubs throughout the islands, offering DJ, karaoke or live music on Saturday nights. Some are “local mix and mingle” joints and are more popular with the islanders than with tourists

GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND
Grand Bahama Island can keep you entertained from dusk to dawn with a diverse mixture of beach bars, nightclubs, pubs, sunset cruises, and the Las Vegas-style casino at Grand Lucayan Resort with non-stop gaming action. Visit Count Basie Square in Port Lucaya Marketplace for unforgettable native entertainment; on some nights there is karaoke, fire and limbo dancing, live folk music, Rake & Scrape, gospel music by the island’s top bands plus cultural performances. The Lucayan Live concert series at Grand Lucayan Beach & Golf Resort attracts international stars and performers with The Garden of The Groves featuring local talent.

NASSAU & PARADISE ISLAND
Nightspots in Nassau & Paradise Island are mostly centrally located, either in walking distance from the cruise port or a short drive from any of the major hotels. The harbour front has a number of open-air bars and clubs for live music and dancing, and here you’ll hear the latest sounds spun by local and international deejays. The Atlantis Casino on Paradise Island is one of the largest casinos in the Caribbean, offering world-class gaming with state-of-the-art slot machines and table games. On Boxing Day, New Year's Day, and during summer months you can enjoy Bahamian Junkanoo, a truly unique experience, and there is no place in the world where the stage is grander than in Nassau.
